Game Schedules and Information
Links to Game Schedules will be below once they are created. Our region creates schedules and teams after registration is near closed and teams are initially formed. Please be aware that sometimes, due to things beyond our control, games need to be moved or canceled. We try very hard to not move schedules, but we appreciate your understanding and flexibility!
Weather: AYSO plays in all weather conditions, except for thunder and lightning. If you hear thunder, or see lightning, play must be stopped. Carson City gets cold in late Fall and early Spring, so make sure your kids are bundled up to play in the cold! Whenever the weather is bad, we leave it up to the coaches' discretion to shorten or end a game early.
Fire Season: During Fall games, we frequently deal with wildfires and smoke. If the Air Quality Index near Edmonds Field is at 150 or higher, play will be stopped. Please check the website for updates if its looking smokey!
Short-Sided Matches: Some weeks, especially in Spring, many families take vacations or otherwise cannot make games/practices with their schedules. That's no problem! AYSO requires equal playing time (or as close as possible) to all kids regardless of skill or ability to make certain team functions. AYSO suggests two solutions if a team is missing players.
1) Both teams can play "short-sided" meaning they play with less players on each side. That may require more frequent rest breaks (quarters instead of halves) but that's up to the coaches' discretion; or
2) The "short-sided" team may borrow players from the other team to make numbers work easier. Remember - the goal is to get the kids on the field, and playing fairly!
Make-Up Games: If your team needs to miss a game due to weather or player availability, our region can help you schedule a make-up game if you'd like! The region does not schedule the make-up games ourselves. If you and the other team would like to schedule a make-up game for any missed time, please email us and let us know! We will find a field for you.
Referees: Just like a volunteer coach, a volunteer referee is required for each game. The Home Team on the schedule is asked to provide the volunteer referee for the game. For most ages, referee is mostly starting the game, helping get the ball back into play, and keeping the kids from pushing/shoving during the game. Most fouls are accidental, and do not need to be called unless intentional. Teams may "borrow" a referee (or willing parent) from the other teams as well. Have older kids? Ask them to referee!
To begin the season, we understand that some teams are still working on securing a referee. For the early games, coaches can act as the referee but please try to get a parent volunteer to help out!
